Before & After: A Restful Guest Retreat

Pfeiffer - before

I’m excited to share before & after photos from a guest bedroom that we just finished in Cary!  Before, the room needed window treatments, and the large arched window posed a challenge.  It lacked contrast with the walls, carpet, and chair upholstery in the same tones.  We worked with the existing furniture and bedding – finishing touches made all the difference!

Drapery panels mounted on medallions and tied-back were the perfect solution!  The floral fabric from Robert Allen tied the yellow from the bedding with taupe and a grassy green, creating a soft and relaxing garden-like color palette.  We pulled the taupe from the fabric to darken the walls.  (They are painted in Sherwin William’s Nomadic Desert #6107.)

This chair was originally in the formal living room, which was seldom used.  We kept the upholstery neutral, recovering it in a soft basketweave fabric from Lee Industries, but added a pop of color with the green ikat lumbar pillow (fabric by Schumacher).

As I mentioned, we kept the bedding set with embroidered bees that was there previously, but added variety with two new shams in a light green and white stripe.  Using the bees as a starting point, the other details in the room reflect a garden setting.  The bedside lamps by Visual Comfort are meant to look like gate fragments.  The botanical prints above the bed add another element of nature.

Working with the existing furniture allowed us to transform the room without going over budget.  We’re currently working on a few other rooms in the house, including a powder room renovation where we’re getting rid of the brass!  I’ll be sure to show that when it’s completed.
