Current Projects: University Club

NC State’s University Club is about to see some major changes, and Design Lines is partnering with Winstead Wilkinson Architects on the project. Molly and I been hard at work on the interior specifications for the space, and I’d love to share a bit about what we are doing.

The main building, which houses the dining room, ballroom, offices, and meeting rooms, will be completely renovated. The entrance, shown below, will be changed to mimic some of the architecture seen on State’s campus. The athletic areas will be expanded with the addition of the Pack House. While the club is meant to serve faculty and alumni of the university, meeting and banquet rooms can be rented for functions.

While working on the design for the interior, we’ve kept the meeting rooms neutral and flexible for any use – from a baby shower to a wedding reception or a business meeting. Then, the Pack House and locker rooms will be infused with State spirit, boasting bold red accents. Our boards are currently on display in the lobby, showing the design of the Ballroom, Dining Room, and State Room.

Below is a close up of one of the renderings on the boards. These niches repeat across the front and back side of the building. For consistency, we plan to treat them similarly with a cylindrical pendant light that will cast a nice glow inside the rooms. Benches fill an otherwise unused space.
