We’re pleased to announce that Stephanie Poore will be joining the Design Lines Ltd. team as a full-time designer in June. With a degree in Business Management from NCSU and a degree in Interior Design from Meredith College, she has been working with Design Lines part time for the last year. Her attention to detail and keen eye for design makes her an invaluable addition to (if we do say so ourselves) an outstanding group.

Ashley Lane currently serves on the ASID Carolinas Board of Directors. For 2005-2006, she is the Communications Director. She’ll be heading to Washington, D.C. in July for an ASID leadership conference to prepare for her 2006-2007 term.

Design Lines was featured in the Wake Living Holiday 2005 Magazine. We were asked by the magazine to create tabletops for their lead article, and Judy Pickett’s holiday table setting was featured on the front cover. Inside, Stephanie Dannenberg’s Harvest table was on display, along with Ashley and Stephanie Poore’s New Years tables. Molly Simmons’ Valentine table setting completed the sumptuous pictorial.

Judy attended the ASID Annual National Conference in Nashville, TN in March 2006 . This annual event gave her a chance to reconnect with many friends from across the country, and take part in cutting-edge educational programs for interior designers.

Design Lines Ltd. was proud to be a corporate sponsor for the Elon University Elonthon on April 9 & 10, 2006 . More than 800 students took part in the event, which featured 24 hours of dancing, music, games and activities to benefit Duke Children’s Hospital. Throughout the event, participants heard from patients and their families who have been treated at Duke. The event helped raise an unprecedented $117,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network.

In April, Judy was asked to serve on the Board of Trustees executive committee for the ASID Foundation. As long as there has been an ASID, there has been an ASID foundation, but it has probably been one of the Society’s best kept secrets. This new endeavor for Judy is a two year term beginning October 1, 2006. Judy is really excited to have the chance to be involved in initiatives that will relate the impact of interior design to a broader audience. The foundation raised over $100,000 at their first fundraiser “Jubilation” at Interiors ’06 in Nashville. The monies raised will help advance the Foundations Mission to enhance the interior design profession by backing innovative and imaginative research and education initiatives, providing financial assistance to interior design students, and offering grants to colleges and universities with a curriculum in interior design. ASID Foundation is also the Sponsor of the National Building Museum “Green” Design Exhibition that debuted at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C. spring of 2006.

Judy was awarded Fellowship in the ASID in March 2005 for her service to the profession, at the National Conference in San Diego. This is the highest achievement in ASID, one that “not only recognizes the achievements of an individual designer, but also elevates before the public and the profession a model interior designer who has made a significant contribution to the profession and the Society.” Needless to say, we’re all quite proud of her.

Ashley Lane was awarded an ASID Presidential Citation September 2005, for Distinguished Service to the Society and Profession. She also received a Certificate of Appreciation for her contributions as Allied Member Representative to the Board. Ashley was honored at the 30th Year Gala and Awards Celebration in Charlotte.

Two homes that Molly Simmons designed received Gold Awards for Parades in the 2005 Franklin County, NC JVC Homes.
