Above you see (Left to Right) Pat the owner of the Lake Boone Trail house, Laura from ROCKin’teriors and Hilaire from Design Lines, posing in their lime green aprons. They were so fun!! You just might find me wearing mine flipping some juicy hamburgers.

There were volunteers at every house greeting the visitors and answering any questions. What a fine organization!

Meredith and Hilary hats off to you ladies — fabulous job.

Lake Boone Trail: Prepping & Staging for Showcase of Kitchens Tour

When staging a kitchen there are endless possibilities, for us it is about — simplicity and elegance.

This Lake Boone Trail home is on this years Showcase of Kitchens Tour  presented by the Raleigh Junior League. I love these chairs below especially with the nail-head trim. Divine! Every time I look at these photographs of this kitchen, I want to whip up a six course meal for my friends and family. This kitchen inspires me!

Last night Judy, Molly and Hilaire attended the Toast to the Tour evening event that kicked off  the 2010 Showcase of Kitchens Tour. The tour is presented by the Junior League of Raleigh and it will run today and tomorrow from 10-4pm.

The toast night included a silent auction, chef demonstrations, great food and fabulous music.

These pictures only give a snapshot of the evening! There was so much fun, music and socializing going on, it was hard to keep up. The catering was by B & B Catering of Spring Lake and of course a Raleigh party would not be the same with out Ed Mitchell the Pit Master from the local Raleigh favorite, The Pit.

Current Projects: “The Club” at 12 Oaks in Holly Springs

Design Lines 12 Oaks Front Door

Molly recently joined the team over at 12 Oaksdevelopment out in Holly Springs; working with Chris Wallace and Jim Anderson from LandTech Receiver Services, which is an affiliate of LandTech Incorporated out of South Carolina, and David Mason. They immediately hit it off and Molly became a part of the team working hard to accomplish the impossible. Within three months selections were made, furniture was ordered for both the inside and outside spaces, art displayed and every outside greenery specially hand picked.

The reason for the hussle? The 7th Annual Holly Springs Economic Development Partners Event evening reception was at The Club at 12 Oaks.

This project was truly a team effort and fun at the same time!

Design Lines 12 Oaks Interiors Holly Springs   Above are three shots of a few of the indoor spaces Molly designed.

The development was built around a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course. Currently, there are approximately 18 houses built along with the model home and The Club, which houses the golf shop, the grill and exercise room.

Networking Lunch with Triangle Blvd at The Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market Kickoff

Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market

Yesterday, April 28th was the kickoff for the Raleigh Downtown Farmers Market 2010 season, which runs April 28 through October 27. Legendary chef and pit master Ed Mitchell from The Pitt was on hand preparing the barbecue for the barbecue sandwiches. My were they worth the long line. So why was Design Lines out and about at the Market? Who wouldn’t want to support the local economy! We are all about it.

No, there is a reason for our outing. Brittany and I met up with Damon and John from Triangle Blvd for a sandwich at the kickoff. For about a year now we have  known each other. The business partnership started when Design Lines was approached by Damon. He said we can help your firm produce a really hip and cutting edge video for our website and whipped out his iPhone to show us exactly what he was talking about.

From there we produced the video you see today on our site and have joined forces on another video for Howard Parry & Walston on how to spruce up before you sell your house.

The team at Triangle  Blvd is all about promoting the great city of Raleigh and surrounding areas through their Triangle Web-TV network.  We are huge supporters. Be on the lookout for one of their most popular events Restaurant Week coming up May 17-23.

Often times when the team goes to High Point, it isn’t unusual to run into  interior design icons. Hickory Chair had Thomas O’Brien on hand as he signed copies of his first book, called “American Modern.”You might have seen Thomas’s name on collections in Target, a lighting collection with Visual Comfort and  his interior design studio called Areo in SoHo which he opened in 1992. Here is an article on him in the New York Times.

The team also stopped to take a photo with Mariette Himes Gomez. Mariette has a design studio  in New York City and also a designer collection with Soicher Marin.  Mariette and Thomas both design furniture for Hickory Chair. Along with Alexa Hampton and Suzanne Kasler who were also in the showroom showing off their collections with Hickory Chair.

It was nice to see you again, Mariette! Thanks for taking a picture with us.

Trend # 7  Trellis is popular.

What is a trellis ?  A lattice like pattern inspired by a lot of cultures, they can sometimes be graphic and organic. Below the bed in fabricated in a trellis fabric giving the room life.

And last but not least, we had to share one of the coolest discoveries that Marty from Lee Industries showed us. Lee did an experiment putting one of their chairs they manufacture into a lake for two weeks. The actual chair is below on the left and you should definitely click on the YouTube video to see for yourself. We were amazed at how clean the chair looked after being in the lake. It was amazing!

Pantone even has “Lagoon” named one of the top colors for the 2010 Fashion Color Report. This color trend is even splashing into both the fashion and home industries around the world.

Below are two ways to incorporate shades of blue into your home from House Beautiful.

The HFB 2010 eMarket Preview  says this year it is about making a statement and people are looking to infuse their rooms with color, while not having to redo the entire room. Naturally color stimulates your mood and this is exactly what fabric and furniture companies are trying to achieve this spring market. This is also referred to as the Lipstick theory, which means that people want to buy something inexpensive to spice up a room, create a calming mood or buy a pillow that is just plain fun!

So, check back next week as the Design Lines team gives you the 411 on this years Spring Market. We will be sure to give you everything you need to know about the top trends in the home furnishing and interior design industry!
